iPod Shuffle

new-ipod-shuffleThe iPod Shuffle, now in it’s third generation, is the smallest iPod of the bunch.  Introducing VoiceOver technology, Apple calls this iPod “the first music player that talks to you.”  At about the size of a AA battery, it’s half the size of the previous model and while keeping the 2nd generation’s “clip” design, remains the most portable music player available.

What does iPod Shuffle stand for?
Small…and now: Talk.  Apple removed most of the buttons from the body of the iPod Shuffle to give it the smallest dimensions yet: 1.8″ tall and .3″ thin (to be exact).  Navigating songs and play/pause functions now require a headset with controls which (as a down side) limits headphone compatiblilty.

The newest feature is something Apple calls VoiceOver.  With a push of a button, it can tell you what song is playing, who’s performing it, or the name of your playlists.  Since the iPod Shuffle lacks any display screen, this is a nice feature to help you navigate your music.

The Shuffle is small but it sure packs a punch!
A storage capacity of up to 4GB, this tiny music player can hold up to 1000 songs.  Another new feature is the ability to upload and play playlists, a feature previous models lacked.  The third generation Shuffle is the newest addition to the iPod line-up and starting at $79, certainly one of the most intriguing.
